I found this last week at a thrift store. There were 2 but I only bought the larger one.
Can anyone tell who made it? There is 1 mark on the bottom that looks like a upside down cross inside a triangle?
Also, are the flags of countries in Europe or of different German cities maybe?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Countries in Europe? German cities??

First of all, duck! ;) Then try typing "Brabant" or "Vlaanderen" into your favourite search engine.

Thank you! Also - Marzi and (und) Remy - according to the link - started producing stoneware in 1927? So is the jar stoneware instead of porcelain; so I can list it correctly!

A warning because Lowlanders, especially Brabanders like yours truly will be coming after him with loaded slingshots?:D
    Don't worry journey, you're safe.;)
I am from another Brabant, btw. Brabant was split three ways due to historical and geopolitical issues. Four, if you count Brussels as a separate entity.

The German Westerwald is pretty close to Belgium, btw. Westerwald stoneware used to be very popular in the Low Countries.

Precisely. Looks as though he got away with it this time. ;)
... and outsourced the manufacture of tobacco jars to the Germans?

Can anyone help journeymagazine with the pipe box?

I like journey, so I'll tell my fellow Brabanders to put their sling shots and pitch forks back where they belong.:playful:

And yes, of course we let the Germans do all the work. They like to work, we like to enjoy life. After all, we have an eleventh commandment, 'Though shalt enjoy' (subtitle: no greater pleasure than the eleventh commandment)!

Since your tobacco jar was solved, I thought you might get a response on your cabinet in Furniture. Do you want it moved back to Antique Discussion?
