    Hi

Found this nice pair of brass candlesticks in a charity shop today

I'm guessing they are quite old but unsure

They have a matching hallmark type Mark, that I'm hoping someone might make some sense of it or recognize

And one has an etched signature or Mark on the bottom

Both measure about 9 1/2 inches

    Any thoughts appreciated

Beautiful, charlie. I wonder if they would have been plated originally.

Thanks Aj, yeah I did wonder that myself

Luckily if they were plated, it's all gone know so they are no longer half of one thing, half of another

Hopefully they will polish up nicely as well

I don't recognise the marks, but the style is George II. This style also came back into favour in the late Victorian/Edwardian period and you find them in silver from both periods.

Strange turn of events, but after a little clean, they look a totally different colour.
I thought it was odd that ALL of the plating was gone, looks like it is still there just was tainted a bit ?

    Perfect, charlie!
I have had that happen with gold plated silver jewellery. It has to do with some kind of process which I can't remember. Electrolytic maybe?

    Thanks Aj and Ce b

I think I 've been lucky, think they would be a harder sell, if all the plating was missing
