With any luck, it'll be on Ebay described as old wooden box! And priced at $250. Or $25.

oh i'll get one, sooner or later. Basically boxes are a decorator type piece, they have no real use like a chest of drawers or a table for instance. I find it easier to justify the expense on something that actually "works" around the house as opposed to just sitting there looking pretty. Probably why i don't have one, yet!

Find one with a mouse hole, or a pie safe with same, and you can use it to hold your phone charger. :)

Oh brother! there are no mouse holes in these boxes . There was one a couple years ago i considered but there were issues with the paint and even if paint was 100% OK, box just didn't do much for me. The price was right though, $1100.

You girls are missing the whole point here, THE HUNT! If one collects early american stuff and you don't have unlimited resources, you must be patient, you must be persistent and, most important you gotta accept that you will lose many more times than you win! It's all part of the EA collecting experience! :joyful:

I use all my boxes.:) Jewellery, fans, snuff bottles, old photographs, they all go in my many boxes. My boxes are mainly antique Japanese lacquer, 1900-1930 Jepara (Java), some Amsterdam School.
This Japanese one, which showcases different lacquer techniques, houses most of my pills. I thought I might as well make pill taking an enjoyable experience:playful::

Start buying! Or just keep old photographs in there, or other relatively small things.
