Not an antique, but the best find ever...

    Monte1Sm.jpg

We picked him up yesterday afternoon, he is all of 11 weeks old.

I've been searching for a shelter puppy for 2 months, it's crazy here. All the shelters and foster care organizations are understaffed because of COVID. Also, since so many people are staying home, puppies are snapped up so fast it makes your head spin. We are lucky, I know people who have been searching for 6+ months!

I hit the Best Answer button. CUTE little dude, who will soon be a big fuzzy monster taking up the whole bed. (I like that in a dog, but it's one reason I have a cat.)

He is adorable!! I can almost smell the puppy breath from here.

We want more pics of him running around!! :D:D

How big is he right now? Judging by the paws he is not going to be a wee one. ;)

His name is Monte, it is the name he came with and we like it. He weighs 16.2 pounds, the vet said he is a bit thin so we need to fatten him up. He also has an upper respiratory infection which is pretty common for these shelter or foster puppies. We have him on antibiotics now, so no socializing with other dogs for 10 days. Luckily they warned us he had a cough when we picked him up so we kept him away from other dogs until we knew what the vet said.

@bercrystal we were looking for a medium size dog, but I think you are right, he is going to be larger than that!

I'll get more picts in the next few days and start a Monte thread in the general discussion area :)

I think the name suits him!!:happy:

When we adopted our boy dog he came with the name Scooter. I asked the DH if he was going to change his name. He looked at him for a few minutes & said nope he looks like a Scooter. Fast forward 10+ years & he was absolutely correct he was a Scooter. ;):rolleyes::hilarious::hilarious:

That's okay there will just be more Monte to love. :D:D:D

Christmas cactus, not that they flower then. ;) I put mine outside in summer, they love a bake.

A beauty! Cactus will often blossom twice a year because they're triggered by day length. Equal day and night is what they need.

It seems I rarely have time to comment but had to in this. Gorgeous plant but even more wonderful memories. My mother had this since I can remember and they have a very special place in my heart. She is gone but can’t see this without feeling her love

    Gorgeous Christmas cactus, Komo.

I sent my younger sister one, just this past Christmas. (She seems to have a way with plants - probably because she has a lovely sunroom for the winter months, and then puts everything outside by the pool over the summers...)

For about 10 years, my Mom had a beautiful, HUGE, pink Christmas cactus in the middle of her dining room table in Florida - until her cat began sleeping in it. That was the end of that plant.

As for me, I know better than to try growing one myself. Indoor plants and I have not been a good mix for quite a while now.

    Hi,
Everyone comments on my green thumb with growing plants. I only thing I can not grow are African Violets. They grow up wonderful and as soon as they bloom three days later the plant is dead. Even my snake plants grow blooms every year. My SIL can not grow anything but her African Violets are gorgeous. She has some that are 20 years old. It is the only thing she does not kill.

I killed a cactus once. At that point I pretty well gave up except for cat grass. Gave that up when the cat took the opportunity to barf green on the rugs on a daily basis.
