Anyone know what this is?

i picked this up a while back at an antique shop in NJ. I liked the way it looked but know nothing about what it is... perhaps jewelry box?

The construction is wood but the whole thing appears wrapped in leather.

Just curious but . . . how "large" or "small" is it?

I ask because "dimensions" always help and because the two drawers look rather shallow(?). I also ask because the mirror looks like a "face-size" mirror.

 

It's a Chinese box from what I can see. What a Chinese lady would have done with it...dunno. Cosmetics box would make sense, with the mirror in there.

 

Id guess a well used jewelry box from an import store within the last 20 years. My mother has one very much in the same style she got at Pier One about 10 years ago.

It is one of those newly made attractive Chinese 'antiques' that flood the market for a few years until the next wave of newly made attractive Chinese 'antiques' comes along. These were around ca 10 yrs ago, when Johnny's mother bought hers. I almost bought one myself, but then decided not to.

 

Not sure exact dimensions but it’s smaller... face size mirror... maybe 6” tall x 8 to 9” long

Lol I had already wrapped it up and put it back in the closet so had to guess.
