    Welcome Cindie,
In the last photo, it looks as though the tusks and mirror may have been moved forward, or something was behind at one time. Can you please add a photo of the back?

I purposely moved the top piece forward, so you could see that the top, horns, mirror & drawers is a completely seperate piece and removable...

This is what a very rude man wrote to me and he was supposedly an expert in antiques, but maybe he is right ? I am clueless.

Sorry to say profusion of carving and decorating does not equate to value. This piece is mid 20 thC. Most likely a french or Spaniard working in America at the time.
It has no direction as a piece of furniture. It’s ugly and over the top.
Masculine are the horns and shields with a delicate touch in the ribbons and swirls. It’s neither one thing or another. Probably made for a gay Cowboy. Value if you can find a buyer to $200. But anything is possible in a America with a little prayer.

Welcome, Cyndie. And sorry about the rude person. Good Lord, he should take lessons in manners from Brad, who could say the same thing (if necessary) without hurting anyone's feelings in any way!

Agrees with "VERY unusual" but i don't think it's a vanity, more likely a hall or pier table. Have no idea of value, never seen one like it. The pic of open drawer indicates 19th century construction.

I would think that combination of carving style, dark finish, crown + shield motif and elephant tusk points to Colonial Asia, India being most likely.

Hi and welcome to the board.
    Interesting table.

    Questions
Did you buy it in the US?
Is there any indication that the horns may have been stained to match the color of the table?

The carvings have similarities to Black Forest carving

He's pretty wide-ranging in his insults, isn't he? Although these days, can't blame him for taking a poke at the U.S. Probably wearing chaps & a bustier when he wrote that, since cross-dressing cowboys are one of the few groups he does not slight.

Wonder if he then wanted to buy it? Or sent someone else to make an offer.

I've been searching for something similar and not having any luck.

I don't see any India or Asia influence in the carving.

This is from a Black Forset chair auction notice the bark texture

Possible theory. Someone with turn of the century prosperous cattle ranch went on the European tour, saw Black Forest Furniture and commissioned a piece using cattle horn.
Again only a supposition. I can be way way off base at times.

Curious what @verybrad has to say

OMG, you know who I'm talking about...How funny is that and yes, maybe he is hiding in an antique closet, somewhere ??? Your thought sounds like it could be a real reality in this messed up world, seriously. I've had a much stranger description from various people. I wish I had kept a running log of the rationality some have come up with, but let's face it, it is quite the conversation starter and definetly unusual !!! Has no one here seen the constant thoughts of *many* that has to do w/ the occult and witches ? One person even suggested I call the Salem Witches Musemn and they may want to buy it ??????????

...and, btw, I have heard the Black Forest theory numerous times and I tend to agree with that. ;)

Third vote for Anglo-Indian or other Southeast Asian colonial origin. Maybe water buffalo horns. Missing family crests at the top and center?

    Where was this auction?

The way the drawers are joined gives me the impression they are meant to look like dovetail joints were used but were not really:
