Would I be a fool to walk away or is it better not to stop?

With €5 in my pocket would I be a fool or a wise person to walk away from this vase?

Or would I do better to spend €2 on this one?

There is another €7 to pay for the delivery for each. They would be for resale.

I am guessing that the first one could be Fenton? And the second on has at least three colours or hues in it.

    Would appreciate your ideas, please.

No one wants to say, "don't buy them" but I doubt your profit margin for resale. They are gorgeous.

All I have is the photograph and the seller says it is black, which is what I thought it was.

The second one is very similar to one that my mother had a few years ago. It had more vibrant colors though. I ran it on eBay several times for her, dropping the price each time. Finally ended up selling it for US $20. Pretty as it was, it was a total dud. I'd have to suggest passing on that one for sure.

@Bookahtoo I have just looked up black amethyst and noted its rarity. It just looks black to me. What gives you a clue that it might be amethyst?

    I rarely see black glass.
However, I rarely see true amethyst glass either, but when I do, it often looks like this, and in order to see that it's amethyst glass, you have to hold it up to a very bright light, or even to the sun.

Your first vase is definitely not Fenton. And I agree with birddog, you likely cannot make much for resale of either vase. I would take a pass on both.

I'm not sure, but in my world, if I can spent 2 Euros and make $20, that's a fair profit.
If Id' done that with all the stuff I sold at auction last year I'd have had to pay a whopping Capital Gains tax.

2 Euros plus 7 Euros shipping to get the item (per what the OP wrote). Then eBay & PayPal fees, plus packing material costs and gas to drive to the post office. . .and you aren't positive it will even sell. . .nope, I'd save my money.

Don't forget there is a 7 Euros shipping cost to add on.

@Bookahtoo @CECELIA G SWART I did go for the Black amethyst vas last night. Partly because of Bookahtoo's comments, partly my gut feeling, partly because I liked it.

However, the final decision was made by seller, who wouldn't budge from it being a collection only sale only. Sad.

However, thanks to Bookahtoo I have learned something about black glass. With additional research I've also learned that it is actual Amethyst, with some hematite inclusions, which give the amethyst a black tint.

It's worth every minute I spend on this website. Thanks all. I shall now pick up and examine every black object I find, and check it out.

Almost all of the vintage black glass I've found has been black amethyst, but not all. Just hold the object up to a light and look through it, you will immediately see the amethyst color.
