Wowser anund, fantastic haul, the silver gods are liking you I think you will be busy polishing for a bit

 

Anund, you da guy! I never ever see silver here. I do pick up silverplate when it's cheap. I grabbed some for 10 cents a piece yesterday. I love the beauty of the patterns and how it looks all polished. I got 11 forks and 12 knives. I can't figure out if Valencia is the maker or pattern. Anybody?

 

I have a large box of silverplate, many times I’ll buy a bag of flatware for the one or two pieces of sterling in the bag. If you lived closer I’d gift it to you.

 

Thank you for that beautiful thought! We do sell it down here. The forks and spoons are what people want for jewelry making and crafting- wind chimes. I love the bracelets they make with the forks, and the spoons are now being made into mermaids's tail necklaces. Nobody wants the knives, you always find them.

 

Some scrap places take silverplate by the pound. Kind of a shame, but it's the end of the line for a lot of it. All of that 1950s and 1960s wedding silverplate is worth about scrap weight.

 

Believe it or not, people still buy the sets down here in antique malls. And I know just who to sell the spoons and forks to. I do have to say the odder pieces, like cocktail forks, iced teas spoons, soup spoons, etc., do sell. I like the grille sets, with the longer forks. I absolutely love finding them. It's kind of a cheapo hobby (in addition to my too many other hobbies) finding it and identifying it. There is a lady who comes down to the shore from PA. and sells the jewelry she makes from this stuff like gang busters. Mostly to me, bwahaha.

Congratulations on the beautiful star sapphire ring!!!! Those things are enjoying a renewed popularity, have you seen the ebay sales?

Well, I ventured out last Sunday and found out a lot of my thrifts are now closed on Sundays. I ventured out yesterday, too, and this is the best of the lot. I do have to photograph the less valuable, but still sparkly, things another time. I did find this wood carrier I couldn't put down, now I have to find a use for it in my home.

No signs of the jewelry lady who "helps" all the thrifts in my go-to area. I hope she is okay. My thoughts are maybe they didn't like her taking the best things for herself.

A few thrifts have set a standard price of $8 for necklaces, $4 for brooches, and $3 for earrings. So all of these would be priced that.

I think it's a mash-up. Nice mash-up though.

I took a look, and figured out I didn't do too badly. It's staying here for a while though. It's in my hoard with the 14k and real sapphire ring I found at an estate sale years ago.

 

Here's my most recent finds. Thanks to @all_fakes whose recommendations steered me in the right directions in a new town.

The larger jar on the left is Mata Ortiz and the others are all Santa Clara Pueblo.

I'm most excited about the vase with the avanyu serpent: it's signed 'Severa' which is Severa Tafoya (1890-1973). I'm guessing this piece is 1950s-60s.
