    Hi everyone,

I've been given a 9 piece willow china set, with a woods and sons mark at the bottom. From what I've found online I think it can be from the 30's though I'm not so sure.
Can anyone take a look and help?

Hi Sarah & welcome to the forum!!:happy:

Can we see a few of the pieces that you have. A mixture of serving pieces & place-setting pieces will be good.

    Thanks!

It's actually a tea set for 6 with - 6 cups, 6 saucers, a milk jug, a bowl for sugar and a large tea pot. Here is a photo of several pieces.

Hi, Sarah! Took the liberty of reposting your photograph as Full Image so easier for everyone to see. (You'll want to do that in the future.)

Godden's has that mark being used from 1917 onwards and the pattern was popular throughout the 20th century, so it is certainly possible.

Edit @say_it_slowly - that's the later version with different text below.

This is from Gaston's book Blue Willow. Can't tell you beyond the photos. I use blue willow every day but by a different maker ☺️

Sarah, all new members do the same thing. It's not a problem at all.

This is also from Gaston's with a different pattern name. Very similar mark as the 1971 Willow mark:confused:.

Ahh, interesting. Just spotted something, in the one you just posted the vase foot has just one band. The later mark you posted before has three, sometimes such differences can be important, ie determine the new version of a repeated mark.

Hmm, Godden's has the early one difference again with one band with white above and below lol!

I wonder if that's a transposed number in Gaston's willow mark and it should be 1917 instead of 1971. No idea but musing.

FYI That looks like a coffee pot not tea.

Coffee pot. Looking at the transfer style I suspect no earlier than the 1960s. The early 20th ones are less machine made looking if that makes sense. Different plate process.
