Neck decoration of the Order of Naval Merit (Brazil)

    The first neck decoration in my collection it's the Brazilian Order of Naval Merit, one of the mos beautiful orders of the Brazilian Republic. Since I only have the neck piece, I can't tell if it's a Commander or Grand-Officer (a Grand-Officer would wear the neck piece and a breast star).

    Nice, thanks for sharing. Is it made in precious metal as well, or just gilded?

    Just gilded, maybe a high officer could privately buy one made of gold. The only Brazilian medals that I know are issued in precious metal are for time of service. High officers get theirs in gold and platinum. At least it used to be this way..
