say_it_slowly The worst prison is a closed heart

My un-bejewelled self can't seem to figure out what I have here. Not sure where it came from but guessing a bag from an auction or thrift.

It is silver in color with a purple stone and three small clear something (rhinestones?)

The chain is marked 750 and 750 Italy and the bail on the pendant says TT585. I'm finding 750 Italy as gold (unless this is white gold seems wrong) and TT585 lots of people seem to use as reference numbers for a million different things. No other marks I can find.

Thank you for help:) Not sure if it's worth keeping.

Looks like the chain is 18K and the pendant is 14K gold.

Seriously? That would be a surprise! So white gold?

It needs testing properly. There's a fair chance it's gold, but these are also widely faked, down to the ITALY marking.

Fake, that would be more likely for me with my jewelry numptiness:D. I suppose if it tests gold then the stones should be looked at too. Well, another project for when the world is back to normal:).

    Thank you all!

I've seen bits marked 750 test at sterling so you definitely want to have them tested. But, the 750 mark does look spot on for 18K and clearly it would be white gold if testing out. If the chain tests out, the pendant is probably real as well.

The TT 585 should be 14K with the TT most likely being the company touch mark. I did not search for it because that is one of the tasks I hate - finding the maker of jewelry....lol. Again, needs properly tested. The stones are dirty, but should be tested as well. Small so they probably are diamond if mounted in 14K, though I have scene plenty of CZ so don't hold your breath. The purple stone is probably Amethyst, this one is a really rich color, which could be synthetic or natural. Take it out in the sun light if it changes color vs indoor lighting it is a sapphire and about a 99% probability its synthetic. Natural color change sapphire stones are very rare, synthetic are very common and often mistaken for Amethyst because of how rich the purple color of the stone is - that, and more people will pay $150.00 for a synthetic amethyst pendant than they will for a synthetic color change sapphire pendant...lol.. so sometime better not to know the stone you are dealing with and let the buyer decide what it is :)

Well George that's a challenge for a non-jewelry person like myself. I gave it a quick wash (which made the diamond/rhinestone things sparkle) and stepped out into the sunlight. When inside it is purple but perhaps not quite as deep as my lousy photos show and outside it's purple with some lighter purple/lilac.

I did try looking for a TT maker and only came up with Traub which uses a TT.

I think this is a job for a jeweler to check:)

It does occur to me that if amethyst, I have two daughters with February birthdays and that is the birthstone. I better check if this actually belonged to one of them and ended up in a misc. bag of stuff somehow.

We're all going to be waiting for your test results on this one, say_it!
Yes, it would probably be wise not to skip that step. ;)
