Featured Intaglio ring

    Here is a nice intaglio. I believe to be Roman - possibly depicting Athena (Minerva). Cut in stone and set in a later period gold setting. It is very hard to capture the fine details.     Think figure is male. Ring definitely modern, probably late Georgian - early Victorian. Intaglio could be Roman; virtually impossible to tell apart from forgeries, which became rampant when collecting ancient gems became all the rage.

    Definitely carnelian. I can't make out what the elements are other than the figure, which I still think is male.
