Today at a local thrift store I found all kinds of cool art! A large 4' x 5' Pollack? painting, a Duane Alvarez wooden howling coyote - and the coolest one; a Oswaldo Guayasamin bust? statue? - I've found some other ones by him with asking prices in the $1,000's(!) - but not one like mine?
It feels like it's made of resin or plastic, maybe? And the plaque says Taller Guayasamin; does anyone know what that means?
    Or what I have here?
    Thank you in advance!

Here's the Pollack like painting & the howling coyote I also found today - it was a good day to be a picker!!

In photo below can you see what looks like numbers & letters - below & to right of red blob? (I see the number 28) What the heck is that - a signature??

Do you check google first? The sculpture is based on his work, made of plastic, sold at the "famed folk art store in Quito founded by the revered artist".."pieces of shaped modeling material have been applied to a foam type board in a happy scheme". Link for one at $50 but you can probably get more as yours is closer to his more popular art work: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/952...min&ref=sr_gallery-1-3&organic_search_click=1

Ran this through Google Translate for you.

"Taller Guayasamín is a company created by Oswaldo Guayasamín himself at the beginning of the 70s, which is dedicated to the commercialization of products with original designs and images of the master's works. Product lines such as: jewelry, merchandising, graphic work, textiles and decoration."

And here's a 2013 brochure from the Taller. Your sculpture is on page 24. It's entitled 'AcrylicoCabezaAzul' or Blue Acrylic Head. (The one to the right is -- duh -- White Acrylic Head.)

I goigled Taller Guayasamin statue and nothing came up??
If I'd found it I wouldn't have paid $79.95! lol Oh well I like it - but I was sure I'd hit a home run with it!
Thank you again - as always!

When I saw what I thought was 28, I thought of Pollack's works that are known by a number instead of a name - and then I thought of the Pollack found at a garage sale in California last year! (Hope springs eternal! But I like this kind of art anyway & at 4ft x 5ft this will sell in our next estate/yard sale fast!) Thanks I need help (again!)

Debora, do you think by acrylic they mean the paint on it (you can see it's hand painted when you look up close) or that's what it's made of?
It may sound stupid but I couldn't get into the catalogue to get more info or find any other info on it (except for a bronze one) - I did find 1 photo of the white one but when I clicked on it it went to a page full of Guayasamin's art but not that piece, so I'm guessing it sold.
Here's a close up; you can see it was hand painted - I just don't know what's under the paint!

I saw it in search but when I clicked on link it just showed a page full of his art for sale - so I figured it had sold.
When I tap it with a knuckle it is hard plastic or resin like and sounds hollow.
I'm going to look at your link now; thank you very much!
I saw the wall hanging ones - the guy is unbelievable - I love his work.

Look what I found for you? The original 'Cabeza Azul' painting that inspired your bust! 1991. I would think yours acrylic paint on an acrylic (plastic) surface.

PS - the Duane Alvarez howling coyote is 27" tall - has anyone seen one as big? Because the largest I can find is only 17" tall?!

Congrats! Huh, that's a pretty strong price for the Roseville Luffa. I have a Luffa wall pocket that I found at a thrift, maybe time to think of finding a new home for it:).

I had it in a eBay auction or best offer with the auction starting at $350 (obo) and got a message asking me if I'd accept $355 for it instead of waiting a week for auction to end (which I would!) - so maybe it would have gone for more ?
I think I sold the Guayasamin low (the all white one sold for equivalent of $595) but it was someone here who's helped me in the past + I'd only had it 2 days - this way everybody makes or saves some money & everybody is happy!
