Featured Clover charm, probably England

Can anyone shed any light on when this little charm is likely to have been made? It's 10 mm across and there are no visible marks. My mother gave it to my wife, with the comment that it had been in the family "a long time". (I know, I know...)

I don't have a clue why or when it was attached to what appears (to me) to be a base metal ring.

Bonus points if anyone can explain the white ribbon (?) with the dots and stripe.

Turn the piece upside down and it could be an L.
Maybe L for luck as it’s a 4 leaf clover. Odd those little spots though. Looks gold, is the Pearl real?

 

It doesn't appear to have started out life as a charm.

It is charming. The black dots on white enamel are also seen on Austro-Hungarian jewellery, but not exclusively there.

I agree, the centre seems to have been attached to something. The five links
look a bit odd.

Oh dear. (Some here will recall that I've got form when it comes to not knowing up from down.)

My guess is yes, but I could easily be wrong.

 

That may once have been part of a stick pin.

Aha! Thank you. Lots of good photo results when I search for "stick pin" pearl "four leaf clover" and enamel -- but so far nothing as close as I'd like and in particular nothing with the white loop or letter.

 

That's annoyingly familiar. Bother.
