How high from the floor is the top of the back? Is it high enough that an adult or "older" child could push it?

I'm wondering if it was a "convalescent" chair for a sick/disabled child.

I was thinking the same, homemade child's wheel chair.

Sort of has a German, Scandinavian look.

I was thinking Mexico but have no real knowledge about this beyond gut reaction.

It looks 19th century to me, and definitely homebrew. That might be why it looks Mexican; it was made out of local woods, and those metal straps were whatever was handy locally. It's too low to really be a wheelchair per se, but it might be some sort of indoor push toy. It's so low it's hard for me to see an adult pushing this. but I can see two kids having a grand old time rolling it all over the house.

I think the chair could only follow a straight line .. those wheels don't turn so pushing it to any destination would be rather difficult, one would have to lift the chair up to turn a corner, strange.. I have no idea on this, Joy.

Tilt the chair back off the front wheels and swivel to left or right. A child would be light weight. Not a smooth ride, but do able.

I think it would be very difficult to tip that chair back .. the wheels are extended out somewhat and with a child sitting in it would be downright dangerous. It is puzzleing for sure, .. Joy.

Could it have been a desk or school chair? It would be able to move towards and away from a desk in a straight line if a student had a mobility issue. Probably for use at home, but it would sure make things easier.
