Hi, I am hoping that someone could provide some information about a piece that I purchased a few years ago. I recently had it French Polished and the restorer felt that this was an 18th century piece. I have included a few photos. The only identifying mark is a stencil type mark on the bottom of the piece and on the side of one of the drawers.

    Any information would be appreciated.

Definitely has some age to it. Determining whether 18th or 19th century is beyond the scope of these pictures.

Thank you, Brad. I was hoping the numeric typeface would be a clue to it's age. It's definitely a French typeface but not sure which century.

    Thanks again for your input.

The numbers look 20th century to me. I had a very nice inlay table in French style that looked good from the top but was clearly 20th century underneath. Close up (and in focus) pics of one of the drawers would be most helpful - the inside, the bottom, the back and the side. Maybe one under the whole carcass.

Nice pictures. First the secondary wood looks like oak so made in Europe makes sense. The relatively thick (but not real thick) case wood and underneath patina look late 19th century to me. The lack of dovetails and machine finish nails confirm late 19th to early 20th century, also supported by relatively little drawer wear, original brass hinges and the stencil, same on drawer and underneath so not a replaced piece of wood.

All told to me a turn of century piece in Louis French style. Very nice.

Thank you, Jeff. I love the piece and have no plans to sell it but it's still nice to know a little bit about it. Much appreciated.
