blanc de chine? Age? Value?

I picked this up at an estate sale, and I’ve been doing my best to date it, and or place a value on, but I don’t have much to go on.

- it was caked with dust.

- looks to be hollowed out and built up by hand. See Photos.

- piece is marked with red - my wife, who reads/speaks Chinese can’t make it out, assumed it was a signature?

- bottom was covered in green waxy substance.

All clues lead somewhere.

 

Yours looks to be a better quality piece than the one in the eBay link.

Some research results:

By 1934- these pieces would have been made with molds, so that’s probably the latest this piece could have been made unless it’s a one-off.

Earliest is harder as they were making them by hand all the way back until 1300...

I don’t think mine is nearly that old.

That eBay piece is very similar and it has one of the same characters, so I would link them to same location/time/producer.

That piece also “appears” to have been stamped with Hong Kong. Hard to tell as it’s faded pretty badly. Which would have been imported in 1900’s or post 1854.

That’s not indicative of age, as that’s only an import timeline but that there are multiple probably implies scaled production.

I’d probably put it between 1890-1934.

Do those clues seem to add up?
