Hello Board Buddies - Pottery this time! I've got this large figurine that I know nothing about. Measures 7" across the base and about 3 1/2" at its tallest. I'm assuming it's some type of smoking accessory although its purpose may be purely decorative. No markings except for some numbers on the base. At first I thought it might be majolica but if so it seems to be missing a final glaze? It looks like there has been a repair to the stump but it doesn't react much under a black light. Any help regarding the who, what, when, where would be appreciated. Thank you!
    Don

It's trying to be German majolica. The base worries me, though, with that grey wash.

Might it be for ink and pen?

Aspire auctions calls him “sleeping traveler”.
I guess that’s more appealing than “drunk by a trunk”.

Thank you, Janet. That could be a "BB" mark on the base of mine. I've got some majolica books and I'll see what I can find on the web.
