Most expensive and smallest painting I ever bought lol.
I hope someone might be able to tell me from her clothing when this was painted? Also the signature, All I can read is W R Herve ?????
This is hand painted and measurements of the painting is
    1 3/4" x 2 3/8" The frame I think is leather covered wood.
That's all I know at this point.
Sorry for the photographs. She is behind glass also.

Can't help, but I like that one. It looks a very honest portrayal.

The word appears to be Pinxit meaning "I Painted" in Latin.

There's nothing on the museum's web site about those miniatures and no information about W.R. Hervé on the internet. Strange. But, that said, the miniature appears to be what it purports to be and is consistant with the other examples.

Those three sitters could well be related. Same coloring, deep set eyes, strong noses and cleft chins.

    Well, we have two names
    (Assuming that’s correct)

    Ebenezer White, c.1837
    And Sally Ann Gage.

Sally is in the same frame as mine. Different color felt. But the same. Thank you @Debora for solving the mystery on the signature.
So 1830s American? And on Ivory?

If they are painted on Ivory are they illegal to sell? I'm not about to take it apart to find out.
