I think I should know what that skinny blade is for, but I don't.

It's not a marlinspike but it will help in getting the knot out of your shoelace

I think it is just a general pick

Now, Terry, I don't want to hear that it is "just a general pick"!
I want to hear that it is, at least, a 5 Star General! :woot:

So . . . Would one call this a two blade knife, or something other?

Ah! It is indeed ridged along the bottom edge, so perhaps that is what it is.
Seems pretty awkward to me though.

    Pipe cleaning tool?

Ah - I think that's it. I knew it looked vaguely familiar (ex-boyfriend, academic type).

    It could be.
I found a number others that had that *thing*, but only one described it as a pipe cleaning tool. The others just didn't say anything about it. LOL

It's not for pipes, it's a nail cleaner and file.
You're bang on about the ridges , just instead of being on the flat side they're on the edge.

My Dad smoked pipes...and his pipe cleaner tool had a tamper , a metal rod, and a scoop.
    I have 2 of em................somewhere..:cyclops:

Thanks, Komokwa. Alas, I think with the condition it's in, I will not be getting rich off it. BWAHAHAHA!!!

I'd look close for a mark. It looks like it may have sterling plates on the sides. Sometimes the maker's name sells them. Or it may be white RGP.

There is a mark on the top of the bail, but it is too badly mushed to read.
And the side are only silver (maybe) plated - in places it is worn down to the brass.
    Poop.:(

I was doing some cleaning today and had my father's knife in my pocket - just like yours. I usually carry it in my purse, but I'd changed purses so it was in my jewelry box. It has his initial on it. Mine is marked on the bail, too, but I don't have a strong enough magnifying glass. I think it's gold filled. 2015-01-11 19.08.07 (800x600).jpg
