Please help identify this watch brand: " RAYNOX "

You are 100% right afantiques. The watch repair man I saw today struggled himself when he tried to pop up the back cover then he realized it was a "screwback" case actually

 

Does that necessarily mean that if a watchmaker /company of a certain brand is still operating then their watches must be more valuable than those brands of companies /watchmakers who disappeared/ not operating anymore ?

 

Not at all. Some companies have a consistent track record, others are simply resurrected old names, or have had so many changes in course over the years that what they sell now is irrelevant to what they used to sell.
Regardless of what the company sells now, this is simply a bog standard if decent quality watch of the period. The durabilty meant that apart from catastrophic destruction the number of mechanical watches surviving from the period is huge. People do not throw away watches other than modern plastic things. I'd guess a 60 year old man would have every watch they have ever owned in the back of a drawer somewhere. The good news for these oldish watches is that they seem to be gaining in popularity as style items rather than as the essential things they used to be.

Guilty as charged.....but there's still one Tissot I can't find.....& it bothers me to think I'd have sold such a strange looking watch.

 

I would find a new watch repair man, fast...

I too have a small automatic 17 jewel incabloc Swiss made going by the name Swiss Raynox.
