Mum, with her blue nail polish & tattoos, was clearly very much in the present, not someone who had stepped out of the stream of life. And the two of you look so much alike.

(it's ME with blue nail poilish ! My Mum is behind me :D )

Yikes! Sorry about that. I really wasn't sure, but thought the person behind looked like the concerned one who had been crying, so decided that was you. Mum did have tattoos though? May I ask what & where?

My dad was not much of a talker. If you didn't ask, he wasn't likely to tell you. Between mementos found in the basement & stories from cousins & his one surviving brother told to me when we all got together to inter his ashes, I learned so many little things I never knew about him after he died in his mid-80s. Who ever thinks to ask, Dad, when you were a boy, were you able to pick up bees without being stung?

My Dad is full of stories, if I ever see him which is rare...I still see him as a young boy, he's very boyish, He grew up in Hay on Wye and had a lof of freedom, much more than I gave my boys, and it's a different time but so interesting. I think I get my love of old things from him. He was brought up in the old pub, The Black Swan, in Hay and it was always full to the brim of old stuff that my Gran and Grandad got from sales when I was growing up too. His brother, my youngest Uncle, died on Boxing Day which was horrid too.
This is The Black Swan...I loved it there so much. My Gran's flowers are in the pots at the front and next door was a shop with a cycle wheel on it,that was my other's Gran's bike wheel ( my Mum's Mum) xx

That looks like a great pub! I'm betting the beer was good too.
