Hi, I live in Devon, England - I do love the old stuff, but honestly I'm here mainly for help figuring out what a ring is that I inherited from my mum, which I need to sell toward improving my manual wheelchair. I've posted about it in the jewellery section.

Just out of curiosity, have you taken your ring to a jeweller to ID the stones and metal?

 

Yes, I've been told by several jewellers over the years that it's diamond and platinum (I've had the ring since 2000).

in the past people have said full eternity rings were out of fashion because impractical to wear.

Hi orm-irian!! WELCOME to ANTIQUERS! And I wouldn't trade/sell my Eternity ring that was my Mom's for ALL the tea in China!!!!!!!!!!! AND I think that's a LOTTA TEA!

 

I melted down my father's band and mother's wedding rings and sold them for scrap.

 

Ah, now I understand that earlier comment. I was abused by both my parents, and by their friends they invited on holidays with us. So I do not owe my mother any sentiment, and I need mobility that I don't have, so please don't make judgements without knowing the facts.

 

That's terrible...they should have died behind bars.....

BUT....

How in god's name could any of us be expected to even consider, even for a second , that you were set upon in such a violent manner...........by those who should have loved and protected you.

So , please don't judge us for not knowing, what we couldn't be expected to know.
