GN are you suggesting that this dish may possibly have EAPG status? I described beaded referring to the rim of the underplate. A better term would be sawtooth I think, do you agree? Why does this pattern keep reminding me of sandwich glass?

Avon 'Cape Cod'; Wheaton made the ruby version of Avon's Cape Cod but don't know who made the crystal version.

Avon selected the "Roman Rosette" pattern made by Boston & Sandwich Glass c1835-50 as the basis for the design of their Cape Cod collection.

It was made/designed to remind you of the generic Sandwich glass pattern. I do not recall having seen Avons Cape Cod in crystal before.

    Hi,
I thought those three ovals were familiar. I never saw Avon's in clear either.

avon clear.jpg 20180416_201039-800x600.jpg avon clear.jpg Thanks Tallcakes Gregglass Avon does have a clear butter dish but it has 5 ovals smooth edge around the underplate. Question is my sawtooth butter dish possibly be EAPG avon clear.jpg

Not if it's 1/4 lb size. It may be old, but then it won't be a butter dish. perhaps a covered relish?

@Mugzinnys: that image from "R" isn't Cape Cod. It is another Avon dish advertised by the name 'Crystalucent' which is a bit similar to their Cape Cod pattern. I agree with @Cherryhill, your quarter pound butter in the Cape Cod pattern is not EAPG; it may be that another company acquired the Cape Cod mold and removed the Avon mark; so possibly a later unknown reproduction.

It looks to be about the right size to hold the long stick of butter. How long and wide is the flat area?

The ruby cape cod dish at the Big replacement house is Identical to the clear one that I have. but it does not have the traditional AVON circled c embossed copyright mark. I do believe that the clear one that is listed at the big replacement house is an error and a differrent pattern. Thanks everyone

GN 5 1/2" X 2" a stick of butter fits with some room to spare. I was thinking that maybe Avon decided not to produce the clear pattern?

Thanks shows why measurements are important in the initial question. This is too new for EAPG. The red was made for Avon and there mark used. For all I know the clear may have been earlier. Bud Hastin's Avon Ency 16th ed does not mention clear or who owned the molds.

    Mystery solved

Upon completion of each mould, the items were normally first sampled in flint glass. The definition of flint glass is a clear or crystal glass that contains some lead. The samples were then sent over to Avon for approval before production actually began. Everett Chance, one of Wheaton’s designers, related to me that if they had red in production, the sample could also have been made in that color too. In cases of transition from one color to the next, samples could have also been produced in odd colors. A few sample blue pieces have been reported to us.
