I know @Bronwen loves turtle :turtle:, so this post is a ;)

Got the little guy without his bristles (for cleaning nibs of dip pen)...
    Marked "geschützt", German for Registered.

Length: 13CM or 4 7/8" (from the head to the tail)
    Width: 8.5cm or 3 3/4"
Height: 4.5cm or 1 1/4" (from the bottom of the feet to the head)

Determined to restore him in its original function, I ordered vacuum accessories cheap, only to get the natural horse hair with convenient length.

Took apart the hairy rings, reduced the mounting depth and cut them to adjust to the shell with my Dremel.

Bostic tacks holds firmly in place the pieces.

Happily the 2 accessories were just enough for filling the shell gap...

Second pic is the result before he got his hairdo, lol!

I trimmed the new brush to give it the appropriate convex shape

Here is the kyratised little guy :joyful:

You are very good at finding the solution to a problem, because you think outside the box. A creative mind, and that pays off.:)

He's a mild mannered painted turtle; she's a truculent red eared-yellow bellied cross, with jaws like a vise grip.

Mrs pewter2 can be like that at times...but not painted and with jaws that move rather fast at the same time , emitting voluminous sounds, ...... ...pewter2

Ha ha, now you know how to give them the hairy look ;):hilarious:
Which one is Eddie, the darker one above?
How do you keep them, in a large aquarium inside?
I only had an Hermann terrapene, not aquatic :turtle: as a child!

Eddie (J. Edward Scissorhands) is the sleeker, greener critter in the foreground. Woodside has the wood-paneled look. Even though she is not that much bigger in overall shell length, you can see how much bigger her head is. He is probably nearly as big as he'll ever be, while she has the potential to be much larger. Eventually I may have to house them separately. Right now, if I ask nicely, they let me use the bathtub. The cats have to make their own arrangements.
