Hi. I've got two pairs of candlesticks but I can't seem to find anything similar online. Are they modern? The tall brass ones are VERY solid and heavy. The shorter, blackish ones...no idea of the metal. Haven't tried to clean yet because I don't want to ruin them but there are a few shiny bits coming through the black.

The two examples both appear to be modern to me.

    I dunno.....
that top one reminds me of something from the early 1900's....
    it looks really heavy......
maybe when we know it's size, weight and where it was found ...that could shed some light.....as opposed to shade..;)

Thanks. The top ones are about 8 inches tall. Each one weighs 3lb. They belonged to my grandmother (UK). No idea where she got them.

I only want to discuss the top one. I know you think the top one is solid brass, but I doubt that. What is beneath the small chip on the edge that appears to be white? Same as the bottom has a white spot on it.

I'm not sure the top ones are older than the 1970s. The bottom plug was often used to fill with sand to make a hollow item heavier weighted. Is the top bit - made of wood? I ask this because it looks so much like a pipe bowl stuck into the top.

The plug may be covering a screw hole.....from here it doesn't look like a good seal..
