Whoever had done it is incredibly skilled. You don’t get that good without being noticed so there must be some variation on the name that is being missed by online searches.
I’d honestly give my right arm to own that.
Edit- he’s rather dishy too. Wouldn’t hurt my eyes to look at him every day:pompous: :hilarious:

Well you can. It’s on auction. :). I tried various variations and American bronze sculptors and could find nothing.

    Robert Blore?
Robert Blore was a sculptor active in the 19th century. He was born in Derby, England in 1810, the son of Joseph Blore, then a monumental mason in Derby.

Blore is perhaps best known for the ornamental vases he produced for the Derby Arboretum in the 1830s, as well as for his 1839 bust of the Reverend Noah Jones and for a number of works that were made in biscuit porcelain by the Derby china works.

At the back of the base, there appear to be figures that I can't quite make out. Some sort of floppy eared pointy nose critter and something to the right. Perhaps, these are a clue to the origin.

What does the insignia on his collar read? I see "200." Is that correct?

If it is cactus, then probably the Americas. @Leonardo Scherer does this uniform look familiar?

Signatures upon sculptures can often be very confusing. Numerous sculptors used different pseudonyms for example, or used just a few letters from their full names to sign their works with. I have examples by Ugo Cipriani, which are signed Uriano, and certain items by Balleste are signed Molins... Bergman, bronze items are often signed Namgreb (spelling his name backwards) "Verlys" glass signatures are a combination of "Verre" (French for glass) and "Andelys" a town in France...

his military(?) uniform/trench coat would help to identify its earliest date of manufacture. The book or papers he is holding may also have a significance. A young scholar perhaps?
