Nice finds. Wow on the trade beads, I wouldn't have know what those were if they bit me. Amazing what people throw out, isn't it? But smashing it up? Sounds like mommy and daddy issues.

 

I bought a jar at the Ill Will today - found enough scrap gold to pay for it twice over. Nothing worth seeing, but I'll take it!

 

Well, it really still feels like winter here and that is killing the flea market trade. I did go this past Saturday, about a third of the vendors were out. I visited a favorite vendor and found these Christian Dior cufflinks for $5. The guy was not in his usual spot (first place I head) and found him at another spot an hour later.... bummer, what did I miss? He had stuff spread out all over two separated tables. Took two tables and a half an hour to find both.


And from a new vendor, everything was $2 or 3 for $5, I paid a dollar each.

In other non-exciting news, it continues to rain here. I was coming back from Philly and wanted to head to an antique mall in Pennsylvania an hour away, but they are only open Thurs-Sun. So I wandered into another Jersey antique mall. I found these, they were supposed to be a dollar each, but since I bought all I got them for $20. I just fell in love with the pattern and style of the set. It took me two hours online to ID the pattern, La Touraine. It has the Rogers double anchor XII mark as well as the IS for International Silver. Pattern established in 1920. This is the viande (grill) set. I love the grille sets because of the styling, longer handles, shorter fork prongs. The challenge will be to find the forks- people want them to make the silverplate jewelry. There was only one regular fork. I did get 8 knives, 8 teaspoons, 8 salad forks, and two large serving spoons. I did just get some forks on ebay, but they have an H monogram. Another summer treasure hunt project.

 

They did stop producing these in the 70s? Not sure....

Got this a few months ago at the thrift and forgot about it till I pulled it out of the closet today. ANC - Mandela campaign poster from 1994...believe it's an original. Mounted on a frame.

 

NICE! I found a 1994 framed SA ballot a few weeks ago, but showed it to another shopper in a ReStore and told him to grab it. He jumped on it. I would have found something to do with it, but it was better off with him.

 

Would have gone nicely with my poster!!

 

They'd have made a nice pair. I doubt it was a "valuable" item, but it was interesting.

 

I thought this was sort of neat. Made of mostly old buttons. At a dollar fifty, the sterling chain should cover the admission.

 

Better yet, is there a bracelet being used as an extender hooked onto the necklace? That necklace wasn't cheap to buy wherever it came from originally.

My score of the day: 70% off Kosher for Passover baking chocolate at my grocery store. Next year's Christmas/Chanukkah baking supplies are partially purchased. Got ground nuts too - it's all headed into the chest freezer.

 

I'd look into those buttons too....for some reason they look odd.....not typical...
