    Hi all......Day 2 of the John Mcinnis Auction is on Live Auctioneers...it started at 11am Eastern time.....501 (I think) items, so will take some time to get through......nautical, Daguerreotypes, marbles, ivory, etc....also thought @komokwa MIGHT want a looksee at these, but I know nothing about them!!!

    Thanks for the heads-up. I might mention that of the four items shown in your post, the first is a shaman's figure of which there are some genuine examples known; but that figure has also been extensively faked by the Indonesians, to the point that I couldn't judge authenticity without holding the item in hand; the third, the white mask with a blue nose, I'd say is a fake. The other two look good.
    In the auction listings, among a number of nice NW Coast native items, there are also "6 old shaman's charms" which are well-known Indonesian-made pendants. Available to the bead-trade for about $1 each, but commonly sold at auction as genuine old native items. We know they are fake because there are not now, and never have been, any genuine native items like that. Wonder what the closing bid was....
    But it is always buyer beware.....

    Indeed. But the little pole on the bottom right of Aquitane's post is quite nice; likely from the Rudolph family of Angoon AK.
    There is just no substitute for knowing what you are looking at.
