I said I wouldn't post any more art but I would like some suggestions and possible help with this one.

To me, I feel like this may be from a student here at SCAD, but not to sure. I've seen worse. This looks to be signed V. Sergeev. There's an artist named Vladimir Sergeev but this does not match his style or subjects. I'm trying to see if he had done some works in this subject matter and style.

Odd way the signature is applied there. I don't see Sergeev. Looks more like Selgeev but not sure if that hash-mark, that I am seeing as an L, is really part of the signature.

That's why I was thinking maybe a student because of the name being seperate from the main picture.

I believe that line you think is a L, is actually a piece of a brush, like the one behind the figure.

That's a new frame with an acid free matting .
Looks to me like the edges were damaged and someone wanting to save the painting , cut it down & saved the siggy !

Paintings are not normally matted under glass.

I found it odd too that it was framed under glass. I hadn't seen one done like that before.

Seems like it was important to someone to keep the two together and protect this from any possible further damage.

Overall, just wanting to get a good idea of how others interpret this painting and think of the execution of it.

??? I have always put the matting under glass on my paintings,in rare instances if I didn't want matting I used spacers.

It is unusual to find original paintings behind glass.
    Prints, etchings, photo's, litho's, serigraphs.....yes of course....
paintings on board, canvas, not so much !
Paintings on paper....I will put under glass....sometimes.

This is a multi-media piece, appears to be acrylic applied with a pallet knife and charcoal. Looks like student art done from a nude model and embellished with the color and more charcoal. The way it has been framed and the cut off included signature probably don't have much bearing on what it could be. This is not an artist with a good grasp on the human form. The picture was started too high up on the page and so the artist angled the head too much to fit, the hand is not well done. And then again, something was cut off of the bottom, I think it was done to accommodate the frame size. So it looks like student work to me.
