This one sure does look like a young Charles Chaplin.

Chaplin parted his hair on the other side. I don't see a resemblance in the face either.

Yes checking Google Images there are non like him, but he does remind me of someone famous, the others don`,t but they are all posed and signed as if they are well known.

"well known" - certainly well known to person(s) they were given to, but the phrase "Ever Yours" doesn't really smack of "celebrity" to me. Must be an English thing.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    The puppy is very cute.

Bev aka thelmasstuff Colored pencil artist extraordinaire ;)

It may just be a series of photos of men who served together or were at school together.

Yours ever was commonly used on photos of celebrities signed en masse to be used as giveaways.

I agree, probably stage actors rather than film with them being WWI era.

    No officer to me.
If he was a officer his rank would show on his shoulder...

Officer Training, he might not have earned his pips yet, or it could be a stage uniform if he was an actor.

    Could be!
But at the beginning of WWI everyone (NCO and enlisted men) was entitle (had!) to wear a cap has we would later know to be a officers cap.
The shoulder belt however was not in use for enlisted men....
