Found this yesterday at a tag sale. It is old and the glass glows a brilliant yellow under UV. Heavily engraved with a grapes and leaves motif. It is unmarked, but the handle, both its shape and the way it's applied reminds me a little of Heisey. Like maybe a company purchased blanks from Heisey and then engraved them, or not? Does anyone have a clue who might have made it? It measures 7" by 4" by 5" high. Here are the photos, TY!

If it were lead crystal, would it still light up yellow under UV? Seems like glass to me. Thanks for looking in!

    American Brilliant
I'd check out Sinclair, Hawkes and there is one more that I can't think of at the moment.

I found a similar handle in my Glass Basket book (White) on pg. 113 under the Miscellaneous Glass Baskets section. The caption for the photo reads "Colonial with Heisey look-alike angled handle." That would explain why you (and I) get a Heisey vibe from it. I don't remember Heisey making a flat basket like this, though, except in Lariat and not anything with those angles in the body of the basket itself. Als looks a little heavy for Heisey. We've got a Heisey expert on the board and the dude knows his stuff. If it is Heisey by some chance, I'm sure he'll let us know.

My first thought was Heisey, but it isn't the handle is not 'right', the body is too shallow, the glass is thicker, just not right, not Heisey.

Pat, I also thought of ABP late period, but thought maybe a copy. The cutting is well done, but the finishing isn't there. I saw the link to that fab signed cake stand. This glass doesn't seem good enough to be one of the big names. And it isn't finished well enough to be Heisey. I may have to go with Don's book "Colonial with Heisey look alike handle." I am feeling American but Don may be right with Eastern European. But it's glass, not lead crystal. I'm Ok not knowing, but that means I sell it in my B&M space to someone who likes the look of it. Thanks for all of your input!

Pam hold it up to the sun. If it is lead crystal the sun will refract the light and show colors.
