The first part of the name is just too worn, but I "think" it might be "Walthe" ?

This was catalogued as a Lalique style opalescent bowl. And I don't blame them at all!

It took me 4 goes to find the Verlys France factory mark smack in the centre where it should be.

Yes it is there, honest, but is only visible when the light is at just the right angle.

For $3 I had to buy this op-shop vase. Some corporate type with more budget than brain cells hired a local potter (Warrick Palmateer) to create an oil barrel shaped vase to celebrate producing 100 million barrels of oil. The artist has since gone on to become quite a noted Western Australian potter and the corporate type is doomed to be forever unknown.

Wow, Miscstuff, you gave quite a bit of "information" about the person who "commissioned" the piece.

I'll bet that the "local potter" (Warrick Palmateer) was rather pleased that he had caught the eye and the money of "some corporate type with more budget than brain cells."

How does one get rid of the lime scale, other than a good soak and scrub with a magic sponge? Nice buy, btw.

    Hi,
I use white vinegar. pour in to cover the scale and let it soak for a couple of days, Adding more vinegar as necessary. If it is big chunky scale I cover it with vaseline and let it sit for a day then you can break off the chunks and use vinegar as above.

    RE: lime scale.

    Vinegar. Should have known.:)

I'd have pounced on the magazine rack too; the decoration is straight up arts and crafts, at least high school shop arts and crafts. It could have been done right into the 30s.
