My buddy sent me some images of a hand tool and frankly to-date we have been unable to identify it. LOADS of guesses but nothing to be able to check against to identify it. The hook in the handle is spring loaded. The shaft defies any type of logic
Welcome! That is odd for sure! ~ Quickly go to edit (limited time) and put your cursor at the bottom right of your dupes and backspace.
maybe part of something else, the "steps at the end" maybe moved when the spring loaded hook was " whatever it does" lol
We need an end shot of the hook. It doesn't look like it moves. That whole end may rotate on the wood...but why... Does this open up Mozzy? ~ I first thought that was a ratcheting device on the slim end which fit into something else....could be...
Greetings. The hook doesn't look like it could actually hook onto anything. In what way is it spring loaded, what direction does it move & by how much? Is there any movement in the other end? I have seen bracelets with nesting Vs for chain, probably coincidence.
It looks like the bar folds forward into a slot in the wood handle....even the pointy tip has a resting notch.. maybe that would twirl the metal rasp at the front....or move in some direction... It's looking like a medical device..
when you push that hook down does something come up out of that slot in the wood? curiouser and curiouser
also are you on facebook ? there are many antique tool boards on fb, if you are not on one already, just be sure to join an active one, some are just kaput. lol
I sure am glad I live in the day of modern medicine, circa 2018.. googling antique medical tools is scary AF.
My good friend Paul is now having sleepless nights thinking about this tool He said. The longer end has a pattern and rotates, the other end is sprung loaded with the hook which locks fully open??????? Please share to find someone who knows.'
I showed it to my dad, his first thought was cork extractor, not for wine bottle but other kinds of jars/bottles... now his mind is racing...
