Magazine rack, book rack, dish rack???

 

Dimensions, please.

 

My thought is magazine rack if dimensions are compatible. What material are the parts that are not wood?

 

Definitely for magazines and newspapers, I've seen them. You'd loop papers over the thin rods.

 

I'm with MK, I think it's a dish drying rack (without the extra cup holder feature.)

 

The wooden dish drying racks usually have the crosspieces on both sides going vertically to the base - so plates can be held in place. This one not only has one side vertical and one side horizontal, but the spaces are entirely different. I can't see how this would work for dishes. I'm still waiting for dimensions.

Not to mention that I do not understand what Lucy is trying to tell us with the statement "flatter than the picture."

 

I think Ownedbybear is correct. I counted the rods on the right and there are six "single" rods and (at the bottom) there is a "double" rod.

Six "single" rods for the Monday through Saturday newspapers and the "double" rod at the bottom for a Sunday newspaper.

 

The numbers work, but all the newspaper racks of this type I remember seeing (mostly in libraries) have angle of display in the opposite direction - so the tallest one has the gradually shorter ones in front of it. And what is the other side for?

 

That was my immediate thought too. But then I looked at it more carefully & saw the same objections that Bakers noted.

Also, look at the beautiful finished would on the left in the photo. You wouldn't put wet dishes on that.

Think she means that it opens wider, that the angle where the 2 sides meet is not as narrow as it looks in this distorted photo.

 

Thank you for your contributions. Turns out it's a Yugoslavian magazine rack the only problem was it was missing a piece that held it together and the right position. Mystery solved! I ended up finding a similar listing on eBay Under mid-century magazine rack.
