    Now, according to this site
    http://www.artistasvisualeschilenos.cl/658/w3-article-40047.html

the brothers were Alfredo, Alberto and Enrique, all with last names Lobos Aránguiz.
That would make a bit more sense although the year of death of Alfredo is 1917 not as stated on Wikipedia 1927.

In this case, who was Alfredo Lobos Alfaro? I checked the paintings on Invaluable and indeed a lot of them signed the same way as mine are clearly with later dates. I am more willing to believe that Alfaro is not one of the three brothers but either a relative or a totally unrelated to the other Aranguiz.

Bev aka thelmasstuff Colored pencil artist extraordinaire ;)

Artists who have unreadable signatures ought to be required to put a printed name on the back of their canvas

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

This occasionally happened in the early days of America. I've found this in my genealogical research.

Also, I'm not sure whether you have heard of the American boxer George Foreman? He has five sons, and each is named George Edward Foreman! According to Question 6 in this page on his website,

"I named all my sons George Edward Foreman so they would always have something in common. I say to them, "If one of us goes up, then we all go up together. And if one goes down, we all go down together!"

I have paintings by two of the brothers (Alfredo and Alberto) and by Alfredo Lobos Alfaro. No paintings by Enrique. I am also puzzled by the relationship of 'Alfaro' to the brothers 'Aranguiz'. Since 'Alfaro' painted(from signed and dated paintings) after the brothers died I have always assumed he was a nephew (named after his uncle who died in Madrid in 1917). I have seen 'Alfredo' signatures from the late 30's/early 40's but his signature changed in the late 40's/50's to include Alfaro (at times). The brush-stroke style in this piece reminds me more of the later Alfaro style.
