Who made this Port decanter label?

    Good Day All

This Port decanter label was marked in Birmingham in 1896/7. (The date mark appears clearly in www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk).

However, I have been unable to track down the maker/sponsor's mark. It appears to be V R R (with points between the letters), although the second letter could conceivably be a K or a B. Similarly, the last letter is indistinct.

Can anyone identify this maker/sponsor? (if so, please also indicate where you tracked down the mark).

Incidentally, I only discovered this evening that the www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk site also lists the assay office marks and date letters. It does so in what seems to me to be a particularly useful way.

Thank you in advance for any information.

    That's a possibility too.

The thing is that I have looked at all the V combinations on the 925-100, silver makersmarks.co.uk, and the site that ends in "it" and I can find no match. I'm hoping that those with access to some of the other - difficult to get hold of - textbooks may be able to help.

That's what it looks like to me too, but one can't be categorical because the marks are just too unclear. So I'm open to other suggestions. V R B is not turning up in my internet searches. Perhaps someone who has access to textbooks may be able to trace the mark.

I haven't found a resource for sponsors' marks but pursuing everything that starts with V in the makers' marks, even going outside Birmingham, hasn't been fruitful. No matter what the other 2 letters are, nothing in the readily available makers' marks that starts with a V matches at all. If the last letter is indeed a B, could be V.?. Brothers.

It seems to be an elusive one!
