The first one is Victoria Ware which is a modern Chinese copy of English style. It looks like the other bases with the gold stickers could be as well but they're too blurry to see.

    (btw, not glass;))

Tiffany, your Mom has amassed quite a collection of blue and white porcelain! (Now I see how you caught the collecting bug – just as I did, from my Mom, and my daughter did, from me!)

Blue and white porcelain has been made in a lot of places, for a very long time. China has produced it for probably a thousand years, and places like England, the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, and many more have been making it for at least a few hundred years.

Collecting blue & white is fun, especially since there are so many varieties, and the colors can be used in so many different decorating schemes. Collecting for personal use is almost easy these days, since there are so many pieces available in so many different price ranges.

For your own home, the best bet is if you collect what you like and not worry too much about the rest of it. I know that I have some blue & white from 1800's England, but I also have some from 1980's China! I like what I have – all of it – and if I see another piece that appeals to me (and I have a place for it!) I'll even buy more.

Your interest in collectibles like these is refreshing. Keep it up, study it, and learn all you can - it really can be rather rewarding!

I love that bumpy glass pitcher that you bought. Do you know who made it?

The hunt is fun an the learning process for me has been really exciting I love not knowing then researching an finding a piece that I didn't know about. So much fun also can be my family heirloom to pass down to my daughter.

Hi Tiffany - I have a little glass pitcher just like yours around here somewhere. It has a kind of metallic sheen of blue and gold. I haven't figured out where it came from yet but it's beautiful. Sorry I don't recognize the red. I think that most of your blue and white is modern Chinese. Blue and white has always been popular and tends to hold value better than some other imports. I'm not saying it's always worth a lot but you can usually get back what you paid. I don't collect blue and white but if I came across that little two drawer chest I'd be sorely tempted. SBSVC gave you some excellent advice. Save those pieces that you enjoy and that bring back fond memories. Those are the ones that end up being the ones you treasure.

I believe the general name for that type of surface on glass is "tree bark". You might try searching using that term. There may be other terms that are more accurate.

As an addendum to Blue & White information, a substantial piece (large vase, planter, etc.) makes a delightful and unsuspected addition to a room done in dark red, or dark green. And of course, mixing it with yellow is classic.

The bumpy pitcher is called by some "Nugget". Pilgrim Glass made all of them including the carnival version. And I would know, I might have a few of them. These are on a small shelf behind my monitor so I get to look at them every day. Can you also see the California Raisins? A lady gave those to me at an auction cuz she didn't want them!
