    Hello
These binoculars belonged to my Grandfather. They are swarovski Habicht 8 x 30 with a leather case. Made in Austria.
The lenses are clear and the focus is sharp although the exterior of the binoculars is pretty banged up. The grip material on the left side is peeling off. I am interested to try and get an idea of age on these. I will be selling and just want to make sure I describe them accurately.
    Thanks :watching:

I'd bet that Swarovski would be willing to help you put a date on them, if you'd contact them...if nobody here knows, that is.

Did you see this bit in @sabre123's link?

"Consider registering with Swarovski Optik North America as the current owner. Once you register youll be able to send them in for cleaning, service and upgrades. Chances are they will come back as good as new and often even better; usually returned with the latest coatings, armor and upgrades. Best to send them in when you can be without them for a month or so but its absolutely worth the wait."

Habicht means hawk. Could refer to having a hawk's vision.

My oldest son has repeatedly said he is going to sell my Swarovski collection & buy himself a Swarovski gun scope someday.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

N = Normalwinkel (normal or simple angle)
EV = einfache Vergütung (simple anti-reflection coating; the better would be DV = Doppelvergütung).
so a simple model, but still good and useful.
and don't be amazed if you find a bit a "twisted" Swarowski history about their binocular department... they never delivered binoculars to the Wehrmacht because Austria was a victim of the Nazis...:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
