old ring,might be silver

    unmarked,looks like a black stone?,anything special about this thing?...i would have a jeweler look at it before i list it..TIA 001.JPG

    Short answer, no. Meant to look like silver & black onyx; actually is...? Surprised metal shows so much wear compared to stone. Even if all materials genuine, there's just not a lot of value here unless it crosses the path of someone who has been searching high & low for one just like it.

    That could easily be silver; I'd have it tested if you've been polishing it. I have a Mexican wedding band that looks a lot like it in the wear and tear department.

    Agree, it could well be silver. And sorry, nothing special.
    The stone could have been replaced at some stage. The old one broken or lost. If you bang a ring into any wall you come across often enough, the stone will break.
    I am great at banging rings into walls, furniture, anything.:rolleyes: So far only a scratch on one stone, which has been polished away, evidence gone.:happy:

    found it in a pile of junk,color reminded of tarnished silverware,so i took some weiman silver cream to it,i guess my local jeweler can test for silver??

    ok took to jeweler,they polished the heck out of it,said it was silver,but no way to test.usually rely on mark.....case closed...lol

    You need to find a more competent jeweller. It is most likely sterling silver. With the amount of wear on it, if it were plated, you'd be seeing the signs.
