Got a number of odd circular game board looking pieces in a box from The Kimball Safety Products Co, shipped to Lackawanna Railroad Co - W.P. Kimpel - Brier Hill Shop. They are a hard plastic with metal inserts on top. All appear to be different. There are numbers stamped into each, or written. They are concave on the bottom. They measure about 1 inch wide. They are not all the same thickness. I was thinking they were for marking the position or location of something.

    Thanks for looking.

My first reaction was to mark on a map the present positions of track that meet...however that one in the second row from the right and at the bottom is too weird but could be a code they would know.

    Rail line signal detonators ?
They don`t look like the ones I`ve seen with fixing straps, but who knows.
The flat metal part is in contact with the line.

I guess you would have noticed if the metal backs were magnetized?

    They are not Rail Torpedos.

I H N I so I put link to here on machinist forum. All I can add to the two replies there so far is that I think the box address label is misleading. I think the box held something else and was repurposed to hold the “used” disks. The explanations on the other forum say they are metal samples mounted for polishing and analysis.

Looks like they are correct. Thanks springfld.arsenal and thanks to the two who replied over there.

I guess maybe they would be cool to repurpose into something else.
