Featured Not really jewellery, but jewelled little box

A wee box, sixties, I'd think given it's very similar in design to others of the period. Inside is odd - it has a sliding compartment. Anyone recognise it or care to throw out wild guesses?

That would be my guess too. Very cute, and great photos.

 

It's tiny! About an inch and a half, no more. That inner bit moves round.

Those types of early 1960s items often had matching pieces. A purse pen, for instance.

Yup, I've had a lipstick holder, match box holder, all sorts in the same pearl and turquoise combo. And this one, which was signed Mirella. Jewellery, too. Pennino did a lot of that, from memory and there's a British maker with a mystery dangle.

 

I vote for pill box too. I am wowed by your stunning photos. And jealous of the clarity and colors. My grandma had a pill box, I may have it somewhere here.

Does it lock into place to seal the bottom compartment?. It’s odd as would be fiddly to get a pill out of the bottom. If it was for powder would you not get it all over your hands trying to open it?
It’s a conundrum!

Isn't it weird! The slidy roundy bit, to use the technical term doesn't really lock in place. It's also in the lid, rather than the base.
