First off I must say, what an idiot I am. I took some jewelry to swap meet and apparently I sold an old chunky baltic amber necklace to someone for $5. I should have posted here first for info, just got to in a hurry to pack car last night. A lady I know that shops there, was shown the necklace by the buyer, they know each other also I guess, she came to me and told me the necklace I sold was worth $3,000. I could kick myself in the head, I thought it was just a hobby piece.
From now on, I'm posting if I'm not sure, that ruined my day.
So here's this necklace, not sure if new or vintage, or where from, probably nothing great. 010.JPG

Billy, don't be hard on yourself about the amber necklace. The other woman may be resentful that she didn't spot it first and is just playing with you. Ask yourself why she would make it a point to come and tell you that you slipped up. She may not know amber from plastic but is just PO'd that she missed out on a nice necklace for $5.00.
As far as the necklace you are asking about now, I'm going to say that it's probably fairly recent, maybe anytime during the last 15-20 years.

It's not incredibly old; that's a 90s or later lobster claw. If there's a maker's label on the back we may be able to figure out the rest.

...and the other dealer may have blown it on the amber too. There are some good fakes out there. I've sold things well under market value more than once, and in fact may have sold diamond earrings as CZs because they were so dirty they looked fake. (ook!) It happens.

    Hi Billy,
I agree with the others. Ignore the "lady" she is a fun sucking bitch. You made have lost a few dollars but I doubt it was was worth anything close to that.

And also, the chunks aren't the valuable amber. It's beads. So I really doubt you lost out much.

Hi Billy, welcome to the club, it's one of the ways we have all learned over the years. Don't worry, you'll probably beat her out on a buy of something really good, and soon ;)

Hi Sandra, the lady is a regular shopper, I have known her for a few years now. She has bought lots of things from me and very honest, I tried to sell her a vase about a year ago for $10 and she told me it was an 19th. century and worth about $200, she gave me $40 for it.

Sounds to me like she is a lady & that some of the words used above do not apply. Her intent may not have been to make you feel bad but to alert you to help you avoid doing something similar in future. But what I believe most is that she is probably way off on the value. It may have been worth more than $5; doubt very much you lost out on thousands of $.

She didn't want to make me feel bad, she is very loving with a good heart.
