These lovelies were waiting for me today in the costume earrings tray at our weekly antiques fair! A whole £1 and they were in my clutches :shame:.
The hallmark is stumping me. Full hallmark on the wires and part on the dangles.
There is a 9, .375, S in a circle and something that may or may not be a leopards head but it’s very vague and could be anything. There are a whole lot of other marks on the wires that are indistinguishable.

There are a couple of date letters I’ve tracked down that are an S in a circle, if it is a date letter, all from the late 19th C.
    c1.5cm not including the wires.
The other oddity is that they are a pair but not a pair. One is slightly smaller than the other and has a textured reverse whereas the other is smooth.Hallmarks are the same on both wires and both dangles.
Id be very interested in your thoughts on these please.
I found a few other bits and pieces that I’ll post tomorrow on one lot.
    Thanks for looking :)

9, .375 in the same style as the wires.

I suspect they didn't start life as earrings. Or, they were part of a parure, with the fancier one being a necklace dangle. Someone lost one earring drop and did a swapsie.

How old do you think they are?. Would the S in a circle, late 19th fit in with the style?

Hoom. I think your S might be 1913, and that would fit with the style.

London. Ignore the cartouche shape, those aren't reliable. The letter is the thing.

    They are very sweet, K.:)
What did Mary say about the stones?

Those kidney wires are fairly recent, but they could be replacements.
The S date mark is the italic S with the funny top. London has that one for 1973.:sorry::blackeye:

Any date letter on the pendants? The textured back on one of them also points to mid-late 20th century imo.

Your eyes are better than mine! I wasn't looking that late in Bradbury's, it might well be.

    I was only around 100 years out!
The circular cartouche was my undoing. I have to say that’s a bit sneaky to change the shape of the stamp:hilarious:
    Thanks all :)

Mary says Garnet!, she’s on form today.
No date letter on the pendants.

    And what's a century between earrings, right?:playful:
But that is only for the wires, which could be replacements.
But then there is the textured back on one of the pendants. If that is a replacement as well, you could have one old earpendant, and some pretty replacements.:p
    I agree, assayers have a cruel streak.
I knew she could do it if she only tried a bit harder.:)

If the textured one is a replacement, someone treasured those. The ear wires being newer makes sense: they'd have just had hooks erlier on.

Unless they were screwbacks and someone with pierced ears wanted to wear the earrings. That happened too, and the 1970s would be dead on for that happening. If those are 1930s Victorian Revival or some such, they'd have been screwbacks.
