Here's A Photo Of My G-Grandma...

    How wonderful to have that locket and photos. :)

    Funny, today I was watching the Nat Geo programme about Ireland and that horrid Cromwell.
    I then asked my Mom about our ancestors from County Cork and County Limerick. I had to write down the names of my ancestors so I can research them some day.

    I am 7th generation and wish I had pics from way back. :( I only have pics of my G.G.Granny and unknowns :(

    I got a photo of my Great Grandparents last year, it was taken in 1914 when their son my maternal grandfather was about to go to the Somme aged 18.
    When I enhanced the photo I noticed they were dog lovers too.

    phpSTko6HPM.jpg This is my Mom's Dad's 4 generation pic. Top L is my G Grand dad,right Granddad,bottom GG Granddad and Great Grandma and my Mom's oldest brother. He was born in 1912. So this pic must be 1913?

    The Vikings were far worse to the Irish than Cromwell.
    They kidnapped them and traded them as slaves with the Ottomans and Russians.

    LOL, My Paternal Grandmother is/was a Dane so I know about the atrocities done by my ancestors.....:p

    .but the English sent scores of Irish to the islands to work in the sugarcane fields too. ;)

    Well I just looked up my maternal Grandmother's maiden name of Burke,English/Irish.

    Burke was English/ Norman and was later introduced into Ireland in the 12th century

    I`m just watching a documentary on the Viking empire right now.
