The beautiful, large (12 inch long and 6 inch high) stone seal was created in 2004 by Gilbert Hay. The signature on the side says:
    Gilbert Hay
    Nain Labrador
    August 2004
    Nunatsiavut
It is made of anorthosite, which is granite with specks of Labradorite that add blue sparkles to the stone. The question for @komokwa and @Mark London or others is the base. In the same donation, a large white stone with two holes was included. The resale shop wasn't sure if this was the base to the sculpture nor am I. I think there must have been two armatures in the base that might have held the seal. No other examples of his work have this kind of base, so I am asking you experts what you think. Unfortunately, as they were passing the base over the counter it fell to the floor and the ends cracked off. So if it is the base, I will need some help in how to repair. I love rock and this combines my admiration with Native People's art to it. Any help appreciated.

it's possible...just to keep the seal off the ice flow......no stone rubbing stone..!

but that leaves it open for you to fashion any type of stand you think works well and looks good !!

You could inquire on the site. Maybe it’s an error?

I looked a little further and the $14,000 one was bigger - 23 inches versus 10"

I once passed up a Inuit piece before I became familiar with them here and vowed never to do so again. The piece was pretty dinged up, so I passed.

I didn't see the blue in the store. Only when I got it home and looked at it carefully. It's nicknamed "blue-eyes", so I was destined to find it.

@blooey Assuming that this seal is supposed to be on the piece of rock, can you envision what would be placed in the holes to hold the seal in place?

it may not need to hold the seal......just keep the stones apart....
