I think this bust was made by Dora De Pedery Hunt - the signature matches - and I've found some pictures online of her crafting similar small busts - for example here:

    http://magazine.utoronto.ca/time-capsule/dora-de-pederyhunt-clay-sculpture/

Dora was a Hungarian-Canadian who did a lot of medals/coins
and relief work but also did busts and other sculptures.

So assuming this is her work - does anyone recognize the subject? I know it's probably not someone famous - but - you never know. There is some marking on the bottom side of the base, under the signature - and I'm not sure if it is letters or numbers - or anything really, but maybe it is. Possibly reads Vogel or Josef or ...something?

Oh also - I bought this a few years ago off a Canadian ebayer who didn't know anything about it.

Pics! (Including the base it's about 7" tall.) (And thanks again!!)

It's lovely and she looks familiar. It might be because she reminds me of Condi Rice but wouldn't be in 1968.

I asked myself that but I don't quite think it is...the "collar" on mine doesn't look like it exists on the one on that website. Also the angle that the neck attaches to the base on that one is a little higher than mine...i think. I could be wrong.
