This bronze figure stands from base about 8" tall. I scraped the bottom side to see exactly what it was made of, magnet don't stick but very hard material. I scraped with sharp pointy file, scrapes but very hard, looks a little silver and white.
Having a hard time with signature, any ideas ?
Sorry for the bad photos, my $800 Canon broke last week and now I have this cheap thing that won't focus on closeups. 010.JPG 011.JPG 020.JPG 021.JPG

    Thank You

He has a Dickensian look. Does the signature extend into the dark area to the right or stop where the gold color stops? Are there parts of any letters that are not showing up in the pix?

My 2 ideas of what the name might be yielded a Mughal era Indian calligrapher & a modern Israeli singer. Will let others look without being biased by my dead end ideas.

It's hard to see with magnifier, almost looks like there might be 3 or letters after the gold part.
    Okay, Thank You

I think the period is somewhere between those two, but a different continent.:D
Looks like it says Daumier, it could be a bronze after a sketch by Daumier.

Billy, if the camera doesn't focus on the closeups, it could help if you crop a bigger shot.

It's spelter, not bronze if it scrapes silver white.

Can't see any silver white, maybe it's too early for me.;)

Oh, I see, Billy mentioned it. Definitely too early for me then:rolleyes:

Thanks Joy. My darn phone doesn't give me notifications anymore when I get a reply on this forum. Sometimes I get a voicemail notification from 3-5 days ago and phone never rang with number shown. I've been busy trying to stay afloat.
