A little story behind the china...I stopped by a thrift and the set was offered for $20 and I stopped and looked at it but I need 62 pieces of china like I need a hole in the head so I started to walk away . The lady then says "I'll give it to you for half price",I counter with "I have absolutely no need for it" and she then says "$5" So of course,I buy it! Oy,what the hell am I going to do with it?!!?

Valentine's Day dinner dishes? Donate them to a refugee resettlement organization? I think that's what my sister did with our grandmother's set. They were given to her and Grandpa on their 25th wedding anniversary and never used. Grandma didn't like them much and my sister even less. She got them from one of dad's cousins who "thought she should have them". Gee, thanks.

I swear,I dont know why I bought them other than I was swept away by the price ! Id donate them to a thrift, but every one I go to has sets galore. I might just use the darn things, and hope they live through the dishwasher.

Out with the old, in with the older?

I'd look them up on Replacements and see what that pattern is going for, and if it's worth packing and shipping them in.

It would make a good white elephant party gift. Or a bad one. I did one of those swaps recently, and my gift traded hands because of the bag it was in rather than for the gift itself.(LOL) Be sure to wrap it up really nicely....

Not sure having to pack it & ship would be worth any amount of money, but places like Replacements, Ltd., buy this sort of thing.

Am I the only one who thinks they are pretty dishes? I think the smaller dishes (salad plates) would make lovely "bon-bon" dishes (especially if the bon-bons were in colors of white, pink, pale yellow, and pale green).

I'll tell you why I think so and it springs from one of my "quirks" as it were.

I cannot stand to eat on china where the pattern covers the "food portion" of the plate. I really like only a decorated border/rim on china.

Johnny, if you really cannot abide those dishes, whenever you carry a dish to a "potluck" or to an ailing neighbor or a death in a family then place a note without your name on it on the back of the dish stating that there is no reason to return the dish.

Or, perhaps, you could donate them to a church with a large ladies' guild/circle which might have many occasions to use them (or they could give them away as they send food to someone going through hard times, an illness, or a death in their family).

I wonder if those dishes would be nice for a bridal shower. I know lots of people on Etsy buy floral dishes for their showers or weddings.
    Just a thought.

This Picasso painting is for sale at ebay for 1.2 million dollars has is some very good provenance, no certificate of authenticity and the letter says nothing about the painting , what do you think about it. it's pretty rough and beat up . he says it's been in the garage for 50 years and it's from 1945 , it has a very similar signature as mine . s-l1600 (5).jpg s-l1600 (6).jpg s-l1600.jpg s-l1600 (1).jpg s-l1600 (2).jpg s-l1600 (3).jpg s-l1600 (7).jpg chair 12.JPG
