Antique Butter Dish

Hi all,

We found this butter dish in our collection and, according to a granddaughter of Marshall's, it belonged to a relative of his. We were wondering if you could help us date the piece and maybe find out who it was made by and...if we're lucky...an estimate on its value.

The piece was said to have belonged to a lady who lived from 1894-1939 so we think the piece dates somewhere in that time frame. It is a gold and dark maroon/dark red color.

Wow I would have never guessed! This is the only red butter dish in our collection so maybe Marshall's relative did the old switcheroonie between two butter dishes sometime during her life. Thank you!

 

Make do marriages are not that uncommon with this age glass and people who used it at the table.
